WASTE ON WAST: AFTER YOUR FOOD is a collection of dirty wastes used from deliveries shown immediately after meals. These are not the type of waste that has been thoroughly cleaned and is not yet ready for recycling; some are even disposable. While we often see images of waste in good condition, raw and unwashed waste is rarely depicted in the media. To emphasize these uncleaned parts, they are highlighted with a blue glow on inverted trash.

Since the onset of COVID-19, the expansion of food delivery services has led to a notable rise in daily trash output. This waste includes various types associated with delivered meals, categorized into Bowls, Utensils, and Wrappings.

WASTE ON WASTE: AFTER YOUR FOOD collects images specifically of these leftovers and scraps left after meals. Unlike the media’s portrayal of waste in good condition, this collection highlights raw and unwashed waste that is typically unseen. Its purpose is to draw attention to these often overlooked objects.

This zine features a rough silver shimmering paper texture. The cover is made from transparent plastic paper with a rough Swiss binding, mirroring the worn and rough texture of the contents inside. This choice was made to closely align the outer appearance with the inverted content.

The catalog is divided into three main sections--Utensils, bowls, and wrappings. After collecting and sorting through garbage, we categorized the results into three distinct parts.

As a collection of garbage and leftovers, we aimed to utilize the language of a zine book to its fullest extent. Especially on the cover of the zine, a circular die-cut was made to allow the contents of the pages behind it to be seen with a soft, blurred effect. This was staged to resemble the squishy leftovers inside a dirty plastic container.
